Problem:
When starting the InterActual Player an error message appears, stating that Internet Explorer 4.01 or higher needs to be installed on your computer system

Solution:
This error message is due to an installation problem with Internet Explorer on your system. The InterActual software provided on your DVD checks a specific location in the Windows Registry for the location of Internet Explorer's main file ("iexplore.exe"). If this registry key is missing or pointing to the wrong folder, then our software will be unable to determine what version of Internet Explorer you have, and it will not launch. We have a procedure to fix this, but the instructions must be followed EXACTLY. InterActual cannot be responsible for any issues your system may encounter as a result of incorrectly following the procedure. First, you need to locate the main Internet Explorer executable file on your system:
  1. Click Start, select "Find" (if you have Windows 2000 or XP, select "Search"), and click on "Files or Folders".
  2. Type in IEXPLORE.EXE in this utility, and make sure you are checking all of your hard drives for this file.
  3. When the location of this file is identified, please make a note of the file path where it was found. You will need this information later.

After determining the location of this file in your system, you need to check your registry to see if the file's location matches. PLEASE follow the instructions below EXACTLY. If they do not match what you see on your screen, contact Tech Support for further assistance:

  1. Click Start, select Run, type REGEDIT, and hit OK. This opens the Registry Editor.
  2. Click the "+" next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to display the folders inside this folder.
  3. Under that, click the "+" next to the SOFTWARE folder.
  4. Under this, click the "+" next to the MICROSOFT folder.
  5. Under here, click the "+" next to the WINDOWS folder.
  6. Next, click the "+" next to the CURRENTVERSION folder.
  7. Finally, click the "+" next to the APP PATHS folder.
  8. Inside this folder, you are looking for the folder called IEXPLORE.EXE. If this folder does not exist, Right Mouse Click on the APP PATHS folder and select NEW > KEY. Name the key IEXPLORE.EXE.
  9. Inside this folder there should be two values. These are listed below.
  10. a.(Default) - this is a string value that has the location of the Internet Explorer file. EXAMPLE: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe. Please modify this value by double clicking it, if needed, to reflect the actual location of your Internet Explorer file.

    b.PATH - This is a "Start" location for programs that need to find Internet Explorer and is required. It should go to just the folder that the "iexplore.exe" is located. EXAMPLE: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer;

      i. NOTE: Please do not forget the ";"semicolon at the end of this string.

  11. After making the necessary changes, close the Registry Editor, and restart your computer.
  12. After the restart, try the InterActual features again. They should now work properly.
This should get you working. If you do not understand these instructions, please contact Tech Support for further assistance.
