In order to use this software, your Macintosh must already be able to play back DVDs using the built in Apple DVD Player. The InterActual Player will not add DVD playback capabilities to systems that do not currently support it. DVDs Supported This version of the player will only load the DVD-ROM content from DVD titles that have specialized Macintosh content. A list of these DVDs is maintained in a Support article on InterActual's Support Website (http://support.interactual.com/). You can use the InterActual Player to play other DVDs, but any (PC-only) ROM content will not be loaded. Browser Support In this latest version of the InterActual Player, the majority of ROM content will load and display within the InterActual Player. If online content is loaded, it will typically be launched in your default web browser as specified in your Internet System Preference. Installing and Running the InterActual Player If you have a DVD with Macintosh content on it: Be sure to quit the Apple DVD Player if it is running (the Apple DVD Player will typically launch automatically upon insertion of a DVD). To install InterActual Player, double click the disc image at the root of the DVD (IAPlayer.dmg) and click “Agree” after you have reviewed the software license agreement. This mounts a new volume on the Apple desktop, called "InterActual_Player". Double click this volume to open it. Drag the InterActual Player icon to a convenient location in your system (for example: the Applications folder or the Desktop). You can now unmount the "InterActual_Player" volume, by hitting the Eject button in the Finder, or dragging to the Eject button on the dock. Double click the InterActual Player icon to launch the software. You can make InterActual Player launch automatically when you insert a DVD by opening your System Preferences and clicking on CDs & DVDs under the Hardware section. Click the drop-down menu next to "When you insert a video DVD:", select "Open other application..." and then locate InterActual_Player. If you are downloading the latest version of the InterActual Player from the web: The latest version of the InterActual Player can be downloaded from InterActual's Support Website (http://support.interactual.com/). Locate the file you downloaded. It will either be called "IAPlayer.dmg" or "iaplayer.sit.hqx". If it is the latter, you will need to unstuff it using an application such as Aladdin System's Stuffit Expander. To install InterActual Player, double click "IAPlayer.dmg", and click “Agree” after you have reviewed the software license agreement. Technical Support for this DVD If you have any difficulties using InterActual Player, please visit our support website at http://support.interactual.com/ What's New in 1.71 - Added support for GPRM events if running under Mac OS 10.3.5 or greater.
- Added preliminary Tiger support.
- Added support for the IA_Open command
- Miscellaneous bug fixes and stability improvements.
Known Issues - If you receive an error stating: "Could not initialize the DVD Playback framework because another application maybe using the framework" or "Could not initialize the application because the DVD framework returned error code: -70003", you most likely have the Apple DVD Player open. Quit the Apple DVD Player and launch the InterActual Player again.
- Manual switching skins is not supported. The player will read Mac skins off DVDs that have them.
- If your default browser is set as "Safari" you may encounter issues if you have "Block Pop-up Windows" enabled. If ROM content fails to load in Safari, temporarily allow Pop-ups to see if this fixes the problem.
- The ROM content on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets will not render correctly in Safari. Before running the Chamber of Secrets DVD it is recommended that you make Internet Explorer your default web browser.
- Multiple monitors are not supported in this release of InterActual Player and it is not recommended that movies be viewed with multiple monitors enabled. (Movie playback will slow down dramatically if the viewer window is split between two monitors.)
