Problem:
This article has been provided to help troubleshoot problems you may encounter when accessing the DVD ROM features of Disney's The Haunted Mansion DVD.

Solution:
Disney's The Haunted Mansion DVD includes Enhanced Computer Features for Windows systems running Windows 98SE, Millennium Edition, 2000, and XP; and Macintosh PC's running MacOSX 10.2 or 10.3.

Windows Users: When you insert the Haunted Mansion DVD in your computer, you should receive a prompt from the disc to install InterActual Player. If you already have InterActual Player installed, then it should launch and begin playing the DVD. Installation of InterActual Player is required in order to view the Enhanced Computer Features on this DVD.

Macintosh Users: When you insert the Haunted Mansion DVD in your computer, your default Apple DVD player will most likely launch and begin playback. You will need to close the Apple DVD software, then locate and double-click the desktop icon for the Haunted Mansion DVD disc to view its contents. On the DVD in the root directory is a file called IAPlayer.dmg. Double-click this file to view the license agreement for the InterActual software, then click Agree to mount the volume on the Mac desktop. A new window containing InterActual Player should also open. Double click this file to launch InterActual Player and view the Enhanced Computer Features. Again, InterActual Player is required to access these features. They are not available through the default Apple DVD software.

Windows-specific help:

If the Enhanced Computer Features on this DVD do not show up in InterActual Player, this could be caused by the InterActual software not being in the correct mode for viewing DVD ROM content. To correct this setting in our player, please do the following:

  1. Open InterActual Player, and click the Configure button. This is located at the top of the InterActual window, and has a crossed hammer and wrench icon.
  2. Under the Options tab, locate the Startup Mode option.
  3. Make sure this is set as "InterActual Features", and click OK after making any changes.
  4. Close and re-open InterActual Player. The player should load the Enhanced Computer Features automatically and also begin playing the video.

If the player encounters an error when trying to play the video, please visit our Troubleshooting FAQ, included below in Related Links, for further assistance.

Macintosh-specific help:

The version of InterActual Player included on the Haunted Mansion DVD is 1.3. The Apple DVD framework must be functioning in your computer in order for the InterActual Player to work. Our player will not function without this component.

The Enhanced Computer Features are only visible when the player is running windowed. You will not be able to see the Enhanced Computer Features menu if the player is running full screen. The window of InterActual Player will "resize" to fit the proportions of the video playing in it, so users of the Widescreen version of the DVD may notice the window shrink in size when a widescreen feature in the video is playing. We have corrected this issue in the latest version of InterActual Player for Macintosh. Please see Related Links below for a link to the download page.

General help: The features on the Haunted Mansion DVD require the following:

  • Apple QuickTime (for Windows) version 5.02 or above. Click here to download the latest version of QuickTime for your computer. Users of MacOS 10.2 and above should not need a QuickTime update.
  • Macromedia Flash 7 or above (included on the DVD). If your Flash player needs upgrading, a temporary page should appear in InterActual Player with instructions for updating Flash in your system. Follow these instructions and restart InterActual Player to gain access to the features. For Windows users the location of the Flash install file on your disc is <your DVD drive letter>:\common\win\upgflash. Just double click the fp7.msi file to install. For Mac users, the file you need to run is in Haunted_Mansion:common:mac:upgflash. Just run the fp7_macosx file to install.

If the "Please Install Flash" page continues to load even after running the installer, try running the Macromedia Flash Player Uninstaller first.

  • Special Note: Some Windows users have reported that the Flash installation from the DVD fails with a prompt for a disc called "Macromedia Flash LABEL". This is apparently a bug in the Macromedia Flash installer which did not occur during our testing. If you encounter this problem, simply copy the fp7.msi file from the DVD (see above for the location) to your Windows desktop, and double click it to run. After doing so, restart InterActual Player and the Enhanced Computer Features should be working.

After you have successfully updated the Flash and QuickTime players, just reload The Haunted Mansion DVD and the Enhanced Computer Features should be visible.

Known issues in the Printables feature: The Printables feature is missing the following, even though their previews are available:

  • The "Roaming Eyes" image - Click here to download
  • The three "Haunted Mansion Transform" images - Download the zipped file containing the three missing transform images by clicking here
  • Alternate version of the printable height chart - Click here to download

Winzip or a compatible file archiving utility will be needed to extract the contents of the "Transform" download, or you can use the extract utility built into Windows XP or ME. All of these files are in Adobe Reader format.
